Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an Environmental Scientist/Environmental Risk Assessor to support Human Health and Ecological projects within the Environmental Services Group. The role focuses on regulatory compliance for federal, state, and local environmental initiatives as part of a collaborative, growth‑oriented team.

The candidate will assist with HHRA and ERA tasks, contribute to DQOs, QAPPs, and SAPs, and support project planning from exposure models to BERAs. Travel is expected up to 10% as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Science or related discipline with professional scientist registration/certification OR Master's degree in Science or related discipline.
• 7 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required. Travel frequency contingent on duties and workload.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience considered in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

• Supports site investigations and data interpretation for human health risk assessments (HHRAs) and ecological risk assessments (ERAs).
• Contributes to data quality objectives (DQOs), QA/QC plans, and sampling/analysis plans (SAPs).
• Prepares CSEMs, HHRAs, SLERAs, and BERAs for basic to high complexity.
• Collaborates with scientists, geologists, engineers, and toxicologists on project approaches.
• Provides technical evaluation on oversight projects and mentors junior staff.
• Supports proposals with sales staff in response to RFPs.
• Develops white papers on emerging environmental issues and presents at conferences.
