Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an Environmental Scientist/Environmental Risk Assessor to support human health and ecological projects within the Environmental Services Group. The role focuses on regulatory compliance for federal, state, and local initiatives across CDM Smith’s portfolio.

Responsibilities include assisting with site investigations, developing DQOs, QAPPs, SAPs, and medical models such as CSEMs and BERAs. Travel may be required as duties vary by workload.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with professional scientist registration or Master’s in Science.
• 7 years of related experience.
• Travel may be required; frequency contingent on duties.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience may substitute for a degree.

Responsibilities

• Support site investigations and analysis for human health and ecological risk assessments.
• Develop data quality objectives (DQOs), QAPPs, and SAPs.
• Prepare CSEMs and various risk assessments (HHRAs, SLERAs, BERAs).
• Collaborate with scientists, geologists, engineers, and toxicologists on project approaches.
• Provide technical evaluation on oversight documents and client meetings.
• Mentor junior staff and support growth within the discipline.
• Assist sales in responding to RFPs and proposals.
• Contribute white papers on emerging environmental issues.
• Present at conferences to raise visibility of firm’s products and services.
