Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Software Engineering Lead to drive design, modernization, and sustainment of enterprise software for NIH/NCI. You will provide technical leadership across teams, ensuring secure, scalable cloud-native solutions aligned with federal standards.

Responsibilities include guiding the SDLC with Agile practices, CI/CD, and DevSecOps, while coordinating with government stakeholders and SMEs to deliver high-quality software for biomedical research and business operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in a technical field; Master’s preferred.
• Minimum 10 years of progressive software engineering experience, with 5 years in leading enterprise teams.
• Experience with NIH/HHS/Federal civilian agencies is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of Agile, DevSecOps and secure SDLC practices.
• Hands-on with Java, Python, Ruby, Oracle, RESTful APIs, and cloud-native architectures.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, modernization, testing, deployment, and sustainment of enterprise software.
• Provide technical leadership across the full SDLC using Agile (Scrum/Kanban).
• Enforce software engineering best practices, CI/CD, and DevSecOps processes.
• Develop/maintain enterprise apps using Java, Python, Ruby, Oracle, NoSQL databases, AWS services.
• Oversee cloud modernization, containerization, and on-premises/cloud hosting strategies.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, demos, training, and operations support.
• Support IV&V, automated testing, code reviews, and release management.
• Ensure compliance with NIH/NCI/FISMA/FedRAMP/Section 508 and secure auth like SAML.
