Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Software Engineering Lead to oversee design, modernization, and integration of enterprise software for NIH/NCI programs in the Reston area. The role emphasizes cloud-native architectures, DevSecOps, and secure, scalable solutions across the full SDLC.

The candidate will collaborate with government stakeholders, SMEs, solution architects, and DevSecOps teams to deliver high-quality software systems that support biomedical research and enterprise operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems or related field; Master's preferred.
• Minimum 10 years of progressive software engineering experience, including 5 years leading enterprise teams on large Federal IT programs.
• Demonstrated experience supporting NIH, HHS, CMS, or other Federal civilian agencies.
• Strong knowledge of modern software development methodologies, Agile, DevSecOps, and SDLC.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, modernization, testing, deployment, and sustainment of enterprise software.
• Provide technical leadership across the SDLC using Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban).
• Enforce software engineering best practices, CI/CD, and DevSecOps processes.
• Develop and maintain enterprise apps using Java, Python, Ruby, Oracle, NoSQL databases, and AWS.
• Lead cloud modernization, migration, containerization, and cloud-native solutions.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and train users.
• Support IV&V, automated testing, code reviews, and release management.
• Ensure compliance with Federal cybersecurity requirements and secure authentication (SAML).
