Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Software Engineering Lead to guide design, modernization, and sustainment of enterprise software solutions for NIH/NCI. You will champion secure, scalable cloud-native applications and lead cross-functional teams across the full SDLC.

You will collaborate with government stakeholders, SMEs, solution architects, AI/ML engineers, data engineers, and DevSecOps teams to deliver modern software aligned with NIH/NCI standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline.
• 10+ years of progressive software engineering experience, including 5 years leading enterprise teams.
• Experience with NIH/HHS/CMS or federal civilian agencies is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of Agile, DevSecOps, and secure SDLC practices.
• Hands-on with Java, Python, Ruby, Oracle, RESTful APIs and modern frameworks.
• Experience with cloud-native apps on AWS and CI/CD, IaC, automation, and testing.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, modernization, testing, deployment, and sustainment of enterprise software.
• Provide technical leadership across SDLC using Agile (Scrum/Kanban) to deliver secure software.
• Enforce best practices, coding standards, configuration management, and DevSecOps.
• Develop enterprise apps with Java, Python, Ruby, Oracle, NoSQL; AWS serverless stack.
• Drive cloud modernization, containerization, automation, and migration in AWS environments.
• Design hosting environments, ensure high availability, performance, and scalability.
• Oversee database design, security, and data integrity for enterprise and science data.
• Collaborate with analysts, QA, systems engineers, and stakeholders to deliver results.
• Support IV&V, automated tests, code reviews, and release management.
• Ensure NIH/NCI compliance including security, authentication, and monitoring.
