Job summary

Leidos in Reston, VA seeks a Software Engineering Lead to oversee design, modernization, and sustainment of enterprise software for NIH/NCI. You will provide technical leadership across the SDLC, applying Agile, DevSecOps, and cloud-native practices in AWS to deliver secure and scalable solutions for biomedical research and business operations.

The role requires collaboration with government stakeholders, SMEs, and solution architects to ensure high-quality delivery and regulatory compliance

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field; Master’s preferred.
• 10+ years in software engineering with 5+ years in leading enterprise teams on Federal IT programs.
• Experience with NIH/HHS or Federal civilian agencies is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of Agile, DevSecOps, and secure SDLC practices.
• Hands-on in Java, Python, Ruby; cloud-native AWS experience and databases like Oracle/MongoDB.
• Experience with CI/CD, IaC, and cloud migration; excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, modernization, testing, deployment, and sustainment of enterprise software.
• Provide technical leadership across the full SDLC using Agile methods to deliver secure, scalable solutions.
• Enforce software engineering best practices and DevSecOps processes for CI/CD.
• Develop and maintain apps with Java, Python, Ruby; AWS cloud services and serverless computing.
• Lead cloud modernization, migration, containerization, and cloud-native implementations in AWS.
• Design hosting environments on on-premises and cloud infrastructure with high availability.
• Oversee database design, security, and data integrity for enterprise apps and data platforms.
• Collaborate with analysts, QA, systems engineers, and government stakeholders to deliver requirements and demos.
• Support IVV, automated testing, code reviews, and release management.
• Ensure NIH/NCI/FISMA/FedRAMP/508 compliance and secure authentication (SAML).
• Provide technical leadership for Oracle Clinical environments and related tools; document architecture and improvements.
