Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
• 10 years or more experience with central heating/cooling plants and CHP systems.
• Hands on experience with boilers, chillers, cooling towers, hydronic/steam systems, etc.
• Professional Engineering (PE) license.
• Knowledgeable of ASME, NFPA, UFC, and international mechanical codes.

Responsibilities

• Strong understanding of thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid systems.
• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, schematics, and technical drawings.
• Generate conceptual schematic design of concepts for preliminary cost estimating.
• Familiarity with energy metering, performance trending, and data analysis.
• Calculate annual energy consumption of central heating/cooling plants and CHP plants.
• Develop detailed saving calculations for proposed solutions.
• Generate 30-year life cycle cost analysis of new plants or modified plants including: financing, site growth rate, utility rate escalations, carbon offsets, equipment uptime, degradation, renewable energy credits, O&M costs, and incentives.
• Create comprehensive scope of work documents for use internally and externally.
• Perform root cause analysis and develop solutions for performance issues related to systems within central heating/cooling plants and CHP systems.
• Experience with air permitting and other environmental regulatory requirements.
• Engage in customer-facing activities and present technical briefings.
• Analyze growth opportunities.
• Review proposal activities.
• Develop and champion best-in-class sales training.
• Provide mentorship and coaching to younger or less experienced engineers.
• An estimated 30% travel will be required.
