Job summary

Honeywell Sustainable Building Technologies seeks a Senior Energy Solutions Development Engineer in the United States to support North America project development. You will focus on central plant design, optimization, and energy efficiency across Public, Federal, and C&I markets, guiding sales and cross-functional teams.

The role requires 10+ years in central heating/cooling and CHP systems, PE license, and strong expertise in thermodynamics, energy metering, and life cycle cost analyses.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field is required.
• 10+ years of experience with central heating/cooling plants and CHP systems.
• Hands-on experience with boilers, chillers, cooling towers, hydronic/steam systems, etc.
• Professional Engineering (PE) license.
• Knowledge of ASME, NFPA, UFC, and international mechanical codes.

Responsibilities

• Strong understanding of thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid systems.
• Read and interpret P&IDs, schematics, and technical drawings.
• Generate conceptual schematic designs for preliminary cost estimates.
• Familiarity with energy metering, performance trending, and data analysis.
• Calculate annual energy consumption of central heating/cooling plants and CHP plants.
• Develop detailed saving calculations for proposed solutions.
• Generate 30-year life cycle cost analyses including financing, site growth, utility rate escalations, carbon offsets, O&M costs, and incentives.
• Create comprehensive scope of work documents for internal and external use.
• Perform root cause analysis and develop solutions for performance issues in central plants and CHP systems.
• Experience with air permitting and environmental regulatory requirements.
• Engage in customer-facing activities and present technical briefings.
• Analyze growth opportunities and review proposal activities.
• Develop and champion best-in-class sales training.
• Provide mentorship to younger engineers.
• Estimated travel up to 30%.
