Job summary

Rutgers University seeks a Communications Dispatch Supervisor for the IP&O division. You will oversee the shared services Emergency Communications Center, directing telecommunicators across police, fire, EMS and related services 24/7.

Lead incident responses, optimize workflows, and report on performance to improve public safety operations. The role requires a Bachelor’s in Criminal Justice or related field and at least two years in 9-1-1 telecom work; university experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferably in Criminal Justice or related field or equivalent experience.
• At least two years of 9-1-1 telecommunications experience in a moderately busy call center.
• Experience within a college or university setting is advantageous, especially knowledge of Rutgers and local policies.

Responsibilities

• Supervise Public Safety Telecommunicators and Lead Telecommunicators in 24/7 dispatch operations.
• Oversee incident and crisis responses and ensure efficiency of communications systems.
• Prepare performance reports and manage staffing and resources.
• Drive continuous improvement of operations and workflows.
