Job summary

Dominion Energy Virginia’s Electric Transmission (ET) System Protection Engineering department seeks a motivated Electrical Engineer to design and develop protective relay settings for Distribution and renewable interconnections. The role offers involvement in landmark projects like large-scale solar interconnections and offshore wind initiatives, with a hybrid 3-2 work schedule.

Qualifications

• Strong time management skills with the ability to independently plan and organize work assignments.
• Strong oral and written communication skills, including technical writing.
• Ability to think analytically and solve complex problems.
• Experience with short circuit modeling software preferred.
• Understanding of IEC 61850 is a plus.
• Programming skills for automation of system studies (e.g., Python, .NET, C#) are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Learn and apply basic protection philosophy and applications to real-world scenarios.
• Develop protective relay settings for SPE Distribution protection schemes inside the substation.
• Provide technical assistance to engineering and field teams to develop the protection and control design package.
• Provide technical support to conceptual engineering teams, project management teams and ET Field Organization during capital projects.
• Participate in company teams and industry organizations to enhance ET's system protection performance.
• Support team with settings peer review activities.
• Provide guidance to newer engineers on applying protection philosophy and applications to real-world scenarios.
• Develop protective relay settings for SPE Distribution protection schemes inside the substation.
