Job summary

Jacobs seeks an Electrical SME to lead power systems for hyperscale data center programs, from MV/LV distribution to UPS topology and generator paralleling. The role blends technical authority with client-facing leadership, governance of deliverables, and mentorship across multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited bachelor's degree in electrical engineering; master's degree preferred.
• Active Electrical PE licensure required; reciprocity accepted.
• 20+ years' professional electrical engineering experience; 15+ years in mission-critical data center design.
• Proven expertise in MV/LV distribution design, UPS topology, generator sizing/paralleling, transfer switching, and redundancy architecture.
• Proficiency with ETAP, SKM PowerTools, or EasyPower for short-circuit, coordination, arc flash analyses, and load flow.
• Familiarity with NEC/NFPA 70, NFPA 110, NFPA 72, IEEE 3000-series, NESC, IEC, and Uptime Institute Tier criteria.
• Experience with AutoCAD Electrical, Revit MEP, Bluebeam, BIM 360 or Autodesk Construction Cloud.

Responsibilities

• Lead upfront power systems planning for hyperscale clients; define MV/LV distribution and redundancy strategies.
• Coordinate power chain from MV switchgear to UPS and generator paralleling; perform studies (short-circuit, coordination, arc flash, load flow).
• Drive innovation in power efficiency, BESS integration, renewables, and AI/GPU power density scaling.
• Provide technical governance of deliverables across teams and support commissioning/IST of critical power systems.
• Represent Jacobs' electrical expertise at client workshops and industry forums; contribute to RFPs and proposals.
• Mentor engineers; develop reusable calculation libraries and reference designs; participate in standards work.
• Ensure design-build delivery adheres to NEC, NFPA, IEEE, NESC, and Uptime Institute criteria.
• Balance strategic initiatives with hands-on project execution within Design-Build and EPCM structures.
