Job summary

Powell Industries seeks a Senior Service Technician to support installations, maintenance and testing of medium and low voltage switchgear across the US and Canada. You will lead small crews, perform preventive and corrective maintenance, and document service actions with accuracy.

Qualifications

• At least three years of shop or field electrical/technician experience.
• Knowledge of ANSI IEEE C37 standards applicable to breakers and switchgear.
• Factory Certified Technician training required and maintained.
• Ability to write accurate/test reports and project summaries, and explain anomalies.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to Powell's safety and quality standards.
• Complete site documentation (time sheets, service and repair orders, materials used, reports).
• Communicate work schedules to Field Operations Scheduler and District Service Manager.
• Maintain flexible hours including overtime and weekend support.
• Coordinate with project management, customers, vendors, and labor in a professional manner.
• Support Manufacturing with in-house fabrication and oversee small crews on installation projects.
• Switchgear and PCR installations and Testing (DC/AC) including insulation tests, hi-pot, torque, and functional tests.
• Perform vehicle and tool inspections and ensure readiness.
• Read and interpret plans and one-line diagrams; manage tasks and deadlines.
