Job summary

Powell is seeking a Field Service Technician to ensure safety, quality and performance of Powell equipment across the US and Canada. You will install, service and test switchgear and power control equipment while traveling up to 85% of the year. Training, tooling and a company vehicle are provided.

The role requires strong problem-solving, teamwork and communication skills, plus basic electrical theory and industry standards knowledge. OSHA/NFPA training and NICET certification are preferred.

Qualifications

• Two+ years as a shop and/or field electrical/breaker technician.
• Basic knowledge of ANSI IEEE C37 standards for breakers and switchgear.
• Basic knowledge of electrical device function numbers and conductor ampacities.
• Basic knowledge of electrical creepage clearance requirements.
• Ability to write accurate test reports and project summaries.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to safety and quality standards.
• Complete site documentation (time sheets, service/repair orders, materials, reports).
• Communicate work schedule to Field Operations Scheduler and District Service Manager.
• Travel up to 85% of the year.
• Comply with SOPs and safety protocols.
• Coordinate with project management, customers and vendors.
• Support multiple roles from manufacturing to installation projects.
• Perform switchgear and PCR installations and testing.
