Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking an experienced electrical engineer to support onsite at the Duane Arnold Energy Center, with an initial remote start and potential hybrid work: three days in the office and two remote days.

You will work in a project team with engineers and designers to design, modify, and analyze nuclear power plant electrical systems, lead design change packages, and interact with clients and vendors across multiple phases.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Electrical Engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• 5+ years of electrical engineering design experience for nuclear projects.
• Experience selecting equipment, materials, and assembling design packages.
• Experience with low/medium voltage distribution systems (transformers, generators, motors, relays).
• Strong written and verbal communication to team members and client.
• Detail oriented with ability to be badge‑able for nuclear access.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review engineering design change packages for plant upgrades.
• Perform AC/DC power studies, short circuit, cable ampacity, voltage drop, breaker coordination, motor starting and protective relays.
• Prepare equipment procurement specifications and participate in vendor bid reviews.
• Interface with multidisciplinary project teams and clients; attend client meetings and site walks.
• Travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and site verification.
• Support site installation activities and assist the PM to meet schedule and budget.
• Manage deliverables, track progress, and coordinate completion of project scope.
