Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a design engineer in a hybrid role combining home and office work. You will contribute to electrical design on multi-discipline teams, produce calculations and reports, and draft inputs for drawings such as site plans and wiring diagrams.

You will mentor junior engineers while applying NEC and electrical codes knowledge. The role emphasizes design qualification of structures and systems, with experience in low to medium voltage distribution and instrumentation wiring,

Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. citizen; dual citizenship with a country other than the U.S. does not qualify.
• Must obtain US Government security clearance.
• BSEE or MSEE degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• 5+ years of progressive responsible experience in electrical engineering, ideally in a nuclear environment.
• Experience with low to medium voltage electrical distribution systems and instrumentation wiring; familiarity with multiple systems is a plus.
• Experience with NEC, UL508, electrical codes, and IES Lighting Handbook.
• Proficiency or ability to learn ETAP and/or SKM Power Tools; lighting analysis software such as Visual and AGI32.

Responsibilities

• Support electrical design engineering efforts on multi-disciplined project design team.
• Produce engineering calculations/analyses and engineering reports.
• Prepare design inputs for drawings including site plans, power and lighting plans, one-line diagrams, conduit and wiring diagrams.
• Apply electrical engineering expertise to design and qualification of structures, systems, and components.
• Produce procurement and construction specifications.
• Attend project meetings and perform field walk downs.
• Provide guidance as a mentor to developing engineers.
