Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a design engineer to join our Government Services Division in Chicago, IL. The role involves electrical design, calculations, reports, and multi-discipline collaboration with a hybrid work arrangement.

You will contribute to low-to-medium voltage electrical distribution, lighting, and NEC/UL compliance, with opportunities for career growth and leadership of junior engineers.

Qualifications

• Must be able to obtain US Government security clearance.
• BSEE or MSEE degree from ABET-accredited program.
• 7+ years of progressive experience in electrical engineering, preferably in a nuclear environment.
• Experience with low to medium-voltage electrical distribution and instrumentation wiring; multi-system experience a plus.
• Familiarity with NEC, UL508, electrical codes, and IES Lighting Handbook.
• Ability to learn load flow/arc flash analysis software (ETAP/SKM).
• Ability to learn lighting analysis software such as AGI32.

Responsibilities

• Support electrical design engineering efforts on multi-disciplined project design team.
• Produce engineering calculations/analyses and engineering reports.
• Prepare design inputs for drawings including electrical site plans, power/lighting plans, one-line diagrams, conduit schedules, wiring diagrams, and assembly drawings.
• Apply electrical engineering expertise to design and qualification of structures, systems, and components.
• Produce procurement and construction specifications.
• Attend project meetings and perform field walk downs.
• Mentor less experienced engineers.
