Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in Chicago is seeking a design engineer for electrical systems including distribution, diagrams, and site plans. The role offers a hybrid work arrangement and opportunities to contribute to multi-discipline project teams.

The ideal candidate has a degree in engineering, 5+ years in electrical design (nuclear preferred), and experience with NEC, UL508, and lighting analysis tools, with mentorship responsibilities and engagement in field activities.

Qualifications

U.S. Citizen and ability to obtain security clearance.
ABET-accredited engineering degree (BSEE or MSEE).
5+ years of progressive electrical engineering experience; nuclear environment preferred.
Experience with NEC, UL508, electrical codes, and IES Lighting Handbook.
Experience with multiple electrical distribution systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

Support electrical design engineering on multi-discipline project teams.
Produce engineering calculations/analyses and engineering reports.
Prepare design inputs for drawings (site plans, power/lighting plans, diagrams, schedules).
Apply electrical engineering expertise to design and qualification of structures, systems, components.
Produce procurement and construction specifications.
Attend project meetings and perform field walk downs.
Provide mentorship to less experienced engineers.
