Job summary

Sargent & Lundy seeks a design engineer in electrical engineering to support multi-disciplined project teams in nuclear environments. The role involves producing calculations, drawings, and specifications for electrical distribution, lighting, and instrumentation, with opportunities for career advancement.

Applicants must hold a BSEE or MSEE from ABET-accredited programs and be able to obtain US government security clearance.

Qualifications

• US citizen with ability to obtain security clearance
• ABET-accredited BSEE or MSEE degree
• 7+ years of progressive electrical engineering experience, ideally in a nuclear environment
• Experience with low to medium voltage electrical distribution and instrumentation wiring
• Familiarity with NEC, UL508, electrical codes, and IES Lighting Handbook
• Ability to learn load flow/arc flash software such as ETAP and/or SKM Power Tools
• Ability to learn lighting analysis software such as Visual and AGI32

Responsibilities

• Support electrical design engineering efforts on multi-disciplined project design team
• Produce engineering calculations/analyses and engineering reports
• Prepare design inputs for drawing production including electrical site plans, power and lighting plans, one-line diagrams and more
• Apply electrical engineering expertise to the design and qualification of structures, systems, and components
• Produce procurement specifications and construction specifications
• Attend project meetings and perform field walk downs
• Provide guidance as a mentor in the development of less experienced engineers
