Job summary

Jacobs in the United States is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer with extensive data center power systems experience. You will shape electrical infrastructure strategy from utility interconnection through IT equipment, overseeing MV/LV distribution, UPS topology, generator paralleling, and coordination through to arc flash and protective devices.

You will mentor engineers, lead design for mission-critical facilities, and engage with clients and industry groups to advance Jacobs' power systems

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• Active Electrical PE licensure in at least one U.S. state.
• 20+ years of professional electrical engineering; 15+ years in mission-critical data center design.
• Power systems design: MV/LV distribution, UPS, generator paralleling, transfer switching, redundancy.
• Proficiency with ETAP, SKM PowerTools, or EasyPower for short-circuit and load flow studies.
• Familiarity with NEC, NFPA, IEEE standards; design and drawing standards.
• Experience with AutoCAD Electrical, Revit MEP, Bluebeam, BIM 360 in delivery.

Responsibilities

• Lead upfront power systems planning for hyperscale clients and define MV/LV architecture and redundancy.
• Drive the full power chain from switchgear to UPS, generators, PDUs, and busway; perform studies.
• Champion innovation in efficiency, BESS, renewables, and AI/GPU power density scaling.
• Provide technical governance across teams and participate in commissioning and IST.
• Represent Jacobs in industry forums and contribute to standards and external publications.
• Balance strategic initiatives with hands-on design-build delivery and ensure NEC/IEEE compliance.
