Job summary

Jacobs seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead data center power systems from MV/LV distribution to generator paralleling for hyperscale programs. You will drive high‑level design decisions, mentor engineers, and shape Jacobs' electrical standards and specifications.

You will represent Jacobs at client workshops and industry forums, ensure NEC/NFPA compliance, and pursue technically differentiated solutions with clients and partners.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited electrical engineering degree; Master’s preferred.
• Active Electrical PE licensure in at least one U.S. state; NCEES record for reciprocity.
• 20+ years in professional electrical engineering; 15+ years in mission-critical data center design.
• Power systems: MV/LV distribution, UPS topology, generator paralleling, transfer switching, redundancy for Tier III/IV.
• Proficiency with ETAP, SKM PowerTools, or EasyPower; short-circuit, arc flash per IEEE 1584, load flow.
• Codes/Standards NEC, NFPA 70/110/72, IEEE 3000-series, NESC, IEC, Uptime Institute.
• Tools & Delivery: AutoCAD Electrical, Revit MEP, Bluebeam, BIM 360; manage design intent in Design-Build/EPCM.

Responsibilities

• Lead upfront power systems planning with hyperscale clients — defining MV/LV distribution, redundancy, and interconnection approaches.
• Drive full power chain from MV switchgear through UPS, generator paralleling, transfer switching, PDUs, and busway; lead power systems studies (short-circuit, coordination, arc flash per IEEE 1584, load flow).
• Champion innovation in power efficiency, BESS integration, renewables, and AI/GPU density scaling; develop and maintain Jacobs' electrical standards and calculation libraries.
• Provide technical governance across discipline teams and GID partners — review calculations, drawings, submittals; support IST and commissioning of critical power systems.
• Act as external face of Jacobs' electrical expertise — presenting at client workshops, AFCOM, 7x24 Exchange, Uptime Institute; contribute to RFPs.
• Partner with BD and delivery leadership to win high-value data center programs through technical differentiation and proposals.
• Mentor engineers; contribute to standards; engage in IEEE/NFPA activities; balance strategy with hands-on delivery in DB/EPCM.
