Job summary

Jacobs seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer – SME to serve as a senior technical authority for electrical infrastructure supporting hyperscale and mission-critical facilities in the United States. You will shape electrical strategy from utility interconnection through the IT load while guiding teams, reviewing calculations, and mentoring staff.

The role emphasizes leadership in MV/LV distribution, power systems, and commissioning, with extensive collaboration across clients and project teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• PE License active in at least one U.S. jurisdiction; ability to obtain additional licenses.
• 15–20+ years of professional electrical engineering experience with data centers or mission-critical facilities.
• Advanced expertise in MV/LV distribution, switchgear, transformers, generator plants and paralleling.
• Experience with power studies using ETAP, SKM PowerTools, EasyPower, or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of NEC/NFPA 70, NFPA 70E, NFPA 110, IEEE 1584 and related standards.
• Leadership and delivery experience in EPCM/EPC/Design-Build environments.
• Willingness to travel up to 25%.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical architecture from utility interconnection to the IT load.
• Provide senior technical leadership for MV/LV distribution and critical power components.
• Lead load-flow, short-circuit, protective coordination, arc-flash studies.
• Provide independent design governance and technical reviews across project teams.
• Support execution from concept to turnover; assist RFIs and changes.
• Provide FAT/SAT commissioning support for critical-power systems.
• Engage with clients in workshops, reviews, and major pursuits.
• Develop and mentor engineers; contribute to standards and governance programs.
