Job summary

Jacobs is recruiting a Senior Electrical Engineer – Subject Matter Expert (SME) to act as a technical authority for electrical infrastructure supporting hyperscale and mission-critical facilities across the U.S. You will shape electrical strategy from utility interconnection to IT load and provide mentorship to teams.

You’ll lead MV/LV distribution, coordination studies, and critical-power systems while ensuring design governance and project delivery in a hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• PE License required; active Electrical PE in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• 15–20+ years of professional electrical engineering experience in data centers or mission-critical facilities.
• Advanced expertise in MV/LV distribution, switchgear, transformers, generator plants and paralleling, UPS systems, and reliability-focused design.
• Experience with ETAP, SKM PowerTools, EasyPower, or equivalent for load flow and short-circuit studies.
• Strong working knowledge of NEC/NFPA 70, NFPA 70E, NFPA 110, IEEE 1584, IEEE 3000-series, and related standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical architecture from utility service through the IT load.
• Provide senior leadership for MV/LV distribution, substations, transformers, switchgear, generator plants and paralleling, UPS systems, transfer schemes, and PDUs.
• Review calculations, drawings, specifications, and equipment selections for design quality.
• Manage project execution from concept to turnover, addressing RFIs and field conditions.
• Mentor engineers and lead technical governance across project teams.
