Job summary

Jacobs is hiring a Senior Electrical Engineer – SME to serve as a senior technical authority for electrical infrastructure supporting hyperscale and mission-critical facilities. You will shape electrical strategy from utility interconnection through the IT load and provide direction, reviews, and mentorship.

You will lead MV/LV distribution design, power studies, and governance across global delivery teams, with emphasis on reliability, efficiency, and high-density power systems for data centers

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• PE License active in at least one U.S. jurisdiction; NCEES record preferred.
• Typically 15–20+ years of professional electrical engineering experience in data centers or mission-critical facilities.
• Advanced expertise in MV/LV distribution, switchgear, transformers, generator plants and paralleling, UPS systems.
• Experience with ETAP, SKM PowerTools, EasyPower or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of NEC/NFPA 70, 70E, 110, IEEE 1584, IEEE 3000-series.
• Demonstrated leadership in EPCM/EPC/Design-Build environments.
• Willingness to travel up to 25%.

Responsibilities

• Electrical Architecture lead from utility service through IT load.
• Lead senior technical leadership for MV/LV distribution, substations, transformers, switchgear, generator plants and paralleling, UPS systems, transfer schemes, PDUs, busway, grounding, and high-density power distribution.
• Lead or review power studies using ETAP, SKM PowerTools, EasyPower.
• Provide independent design governance and reviews across project teams.
• Engage from conceptual planning to turnover; support RFIs and field changes.
• Provide senior electrical support for FAT/SAT, commissioning, and integrated testing.
• Advance AI/HPC strategies and evaluate high-density distribution, BESS, microgrids and DERs.
• Serve as trusted technical advisor in client workshops and proposals.
• Develop standards, reference designs, and technical governance programs.
