HDR is seeking an electrical design engineer for battery energy storage systems (BESS) in Bedford, NH. You will contribute to conceptual layouts, one-line diagrams, and detailed design packages, collaborating with civil, structural, and high‑voltage teams to deliver robust energy storage projects.

The role emphasizes technical writing, coordination with clients, and mentorship of junior engineers, with travel up to 10% to support projects and client meetings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Architectural Engineering (Electrical emphasis) and PE license.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in electrical design of buildings/power systems.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and electrical design software.

Responsibilities

• Develop BESS conceptual layouts and one-line diagrams; support construction packages.
• Evaluate energy storage technologies and support client vendor selection and implementation.
• Develop and review electrical design plans, specs, cost estimates, and construction documents.
• Coordinate with civil, structural, F&LS, high-voltage, SCADA/telecom, water, and geotechnical engineers to produce complete packages.
• Conduct design reviews with stakeholders and permitting agencies.
• Support development of internal design guidelines, catalogs, and templates for power generation projects.
• Provide construction-phase technical support including RFI responses and change orders.
• Mentor junior team members and support business development.
