Job summary

HDR is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) to join our Power Generation team in the United States. The role focuses on conceptual layouts, one-line diagrams, and progressing designs through construction packages for grid-scale storage projects.

The ideal candidate will have a PE license, 10+ years in BESS or related power systems, and strong skills in AutoCAD, Revit, SKM, and related software.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Electrical or Architectural Engineering with Electrical emphasis.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Experience in electrical design of buildings (lighting/power/systems).
• Strong technical writing and communication skills.
• Ability to travel up to 10% domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Design and review BESS electrical packages from conceptual layouts to construction documents.
• Evaluate energy storage technologies and support vendor selection.
• Prepare engineering designs, specs, and cost estimates for design milestones.
• Collaborate with civil, fire/Life safety, HV, SCADA and geotechnical teams.
• Support project execution, QA/QC and changes during construction.
