Job summary
HDR is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer – Battery Energy Storage Systems to join our Power team in the United States. You will help design grid-scale BESS projects, develop layouts, diagrams, and construction packages, and collaborate with multidisciplinary engineers to deliver safe, reliable energy solutions.
You should have a BE/Arch Eng degree with electrical emphasis and a PE license, plus 10 years in BESS or related fields.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasis.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required or ability to obtain licensure.
- Strong design experience in BESS, power generation, renewables, or power system controls.
Responsibilities
- Support grid-scale BESS projects with layouts, one-line diagrams, and construction documents.
- Evaluate energy storage tech and assist vendor selection and implementation.
- Develop electrical designs, specs, cost estimates, and construction packages for BESS.
- Coordinate with civil, structural, FLS, HV electrical, SCADA, and geotechnical teams.
- Provide QA/QC and assist during construction with RFIs, submittals, and changes.
