Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a senior Electrical Subject Matter Expert to lead power systems for hyperscale and mission-critical data centers across US locations. You will shape MV/LV distribution architecture, design redundancy, and utility interconnections, while guiding SES, UPS, generator paralleling, and arc flash compliance.

This role blends technical authority with mentorship and external thought leadership. You will drive design excellence, participate in client workshops, and advance Jacobs'

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited degree in electrical engineering; PE preference/requirement.
• PE license required; active licensure in at least one US state; reciprocal licensure via NCEES.
• 20+ years professional electrical engineering experience; 15+ years in mission-critical data center design.
• Power systems design: MV/LV distribution, UPS, generator paralleling, transfer switching, and redundancy for Tier III/IV facilities.
• Proficiency with ETAP, SKM PowerTools, or EasyPower for short-circuit, coordination, arc flash (IEEE 1584) and load flow studies.
• Experience with AutoCAD Electrical, Revit MEP; BIM360/Bluebeam for design delivery.

Responsibilities

• Lead upfront power systems planning for hyperscale clients; define MV/LV architecture and utility interconnection strategies.
• Drive the full power chain from MV switchgear through UPS, generators, transfer switches, PDUs, busways and power studies.
• Champion power efficiency, BESS integration, renewables, and AI/GPU density scaling across data center programs.
• Provide governance of electrical deliverables; review calculations, drawings, submittals for code compliance; support IST/commissioning.
• Represent Jacobs in client workshops and industry forums; contribute to RFPs and technical differentiators.
• Mentor electrical engineers and designers; build reusable design libraries and reference designs.
