Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in Lexington, KY is seeking a distribution design engineer to help design overhead and underground networks (4 kV–34 kV). The role includes creating sketches, BOMs, and work packages in a hybrid remote/onsite setup as our Lexington office opens.

Requires an engineering-related degree and 10+ years of distribution design experience, with proficiency in AutoCAD or MicroStation and knowledge of NESC/NEC/IEEE codes. Relocation may be offered.

Qualifications

• This position requires an Associate’s Degree in Drafting, and/or a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Technology, and/or a high school diploma.
• 7+ years drafting coursework or equivalent technical experience.
• Minimum 10 years of distribution design experience.
• Proficient with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
• Knowledge of design techniques, codes and standards (NESC, NEC, ANSI, IEEE).
• Experience with overhead/underground distribution projects (120/208V through 34kV).
• Strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare construction sketches and details for overhead and underground network services (4 KV through 34 KV).
• Develop bills of materials and estimates; plan modifications to the system.
• Analyze and design priority feeds; develop work packages to troubleshoot, repair or modify systems.
• Support maintenance and recapitalization of distribution components.
