Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Senior Distribution Engineer to join a hybrid team in the NY area. You will lead engineers and designers, prepare construction sketches, and review work packages for 4 KV–38 KV distribution facilities.

The role requires a degree in design or related field and 6+ years in utility distribution, with proficiency in AutoCAD, ArcGIS, and PoleForeman. Strong communication and leadership are essential.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in a design-related field or a 4-year non-engineering degree is required.
• 6+ years of experience in electric utility distribution or equivalent review experience.
• Knowledge of distribution design methods and applicable codes and standards (NESC/NEC/IEEE).
• Experience with AutoCAD, ArcGIS and distribution software; strong communication and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare/Review construction sketches and work packages for distribution facilities (4 KV through 38 KV).
• Lead project teams to plan modifications and oversee complex tasks.
• Provide construction support and field verification as needed.
• Coordinate with clients and review materials, costs, and BOMs.
• Support preliminary project scoping and recapitalization efforts.
• Perform site visits and ensure compliance with design codes and standards.
