Job summary

Tokio Marine HCC is seeking an experienced E&S Construction Underwriter to develop and manage a profitable middle-market construction book. This remote role reports to the Vice President and requires strong production and business-development skills.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in E&S construction, a sizeable book of business, and experience marketing to brokers to grow territory. Independent work style and sound underwriting decisions are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of E&S construction underwriting experience.
• Experience underwriting middle-market construction accounts.
• Ownership of a sizeable book of business ($3M-$5M+).
• Experience marketing to brokers and developing business relationships.
• Ability to work independently and build a territory with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate new and renewal policy applications and related documents, classify, price, and document outcomes.
• Respond to broker inquiries within designated timeframes and provide underwriting guidance.
• Maintain bound files and underwriting worksheets and other key documentation.
• Adhere to underwriting directives, guidelines, and company policies.
• Approve/deny within authority or escalate to higher authority when needed.
• Cultivate relationships to facilitate underwriting and promote business development.
• Assist colleagues with underwriting procedures and guidelines.
• Develop understanding of factors affecting policy rating and risk.
