Job summary

Nationwide is seeking an Underwriting Consultant in Brokerage Excess to underwrite risks for the Excess Casualty line, develop new classes of business, and manage broker relationships across large, complex accounts. You will determine pricing, coverage, and reinsurance needs with senior authority.

You’ll collaborate with actuarial, finance, and claims teams to assess profitability and loss history while guiding brokers and program managers.

Qualifications

• Eight years CL underwriting experience handling large or complex accounts, excess & surplus lines experience preferred.
• Knowledge of complex CL underwriting policies, underwriting/marketing principles and techniques.
• Completion of general insurance courses such as CPCU, CIC, AU, ARM, CPIW, CWIS, or ASLI is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Researches and develops new classes of business as directed, including market trends and competition.
• Reviews and underwrites risks with brokers, determines premiums and endorsements.
• Achieves production and loss ratio goals with brokers and manages complex coverage questions.
• Oversees policy maintenance, endorsements, and loss-control coordination with brokers.
