Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company is seeking an Underwriting Consultant for Brokerage Casualty, E&S/Specialty. The role underwrites complex risks, develops new classes of business, and collaborates with brokers, actuarial and finance teams to optimize pricing and profitability.

The position requires an undergraduate degree (or equivalent experience), CPCU/CIC/ASLI credentials preferred, and extensive excess & surplus line underwriting experience.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree preferred; equivalent work experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Completion of general insurance courses such as CPCU, CIC, AU, ARM, CPIW, CWIS, or ASLI is preferred.
• Eight years CL underwriting experience handling large or complex accounts; excess & surplus lines experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develops new classes of business and analyzes market viability with actuarial support.
• Underwrites risks for acceptability, pricing, and policy terms with high authority.
• Reviews broker submissions; manages broker relationships and marketing to meet production goals.
• Oversees policy maintenance, endorsements, and loss control collaboration with brokers.
• Mentors underwriting staff and shares knowledge to build capability.
