Job summary

Nationwide is seeking a Brokerage Excess Underwriter to analyze complex risks and balance client needs with company goals in a fast-paced E&S environment.

Ideal candidates have 3–5 years of E&S experience, familiarity with wholesale partners, and a strong foundation in underwriting principles and risk assessment. Travel to broker offices may be required, with a comprehensive benefits package offered.

Qualifications

• Five years as a CL underwriter; excess & surplus lines experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of CL underwriting policies, practices and procedures.
• Familiarity with reinsurance concepts and wholesale broker systems.

Responsibilities

• Research market trends and viability with brokers and internal teams.
• Analyze risks, determine premiums, endorsements and exclusions.
• Place reinsurance per guidelines; maintain broker relationships.
• Review endorsements, policy changes and loss control recommendations.
• Support marketing ideas and client training; travel to broker offices as needed.
• Continually develop technical and business knowledge.
