Job summary

Nationwide seeks a Senior Underwriting Consultant for Brokerage Property in the Western U.S. You will underwrite complex risks, determine pricing, terms and reinsurance needs, and manage broker relationships to achieve growth and profitability.

You will mentor junior underwriters, collaborate with actuaries, and represent the department in committees and initiatives. Travel to broker offices is required; incumbents should reside in the Western region.

Qualifications

• Eight years CL underwriting experience handling large or complex accounts.
• Experience managing relationships with wholesale brokers and broker partners.
• Strong knowledge of facultative reinsurance and pricing strategies.

Responsibilities

• Researches and develops new classes of business and sets pricing with actuarial support.
• Underwrites risks for acceptability, pricing, coverage, by evaluating information and exposures.
• Reviews endorsements, loss control, and claims activity; communicates with brokers and clients.
• Mentors underwriters and supports staff development; leads in manager's absence.
