Job summary

Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company seeks an Underwriting Specialist for Brokerage Casualty in the Excess & Surplus/Specialty line. You will determine risk acceptability, pricing, coverage, and terms for complex risks, working with brokers to meet production and loss ratio goals.

Five years of CL underwriting experience is preferred, with knowledge of rating plans and reinsurance concepts, plus strong communication and negotiation skills.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree preferred; equivalent work experience will be considered.
• Completion of general insurance courses such as CPCU, CIC, AU, ARM, CPIW, CWIS, or ASLI is preferred.
• Five years as a CL underwriter, excess & surplus lines experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Research market trends and develop partnerships with brokers and program managers.
• Analyze risks, determine appropriate premiums, endorsements and exclusions.
• Place reinsurance per department guidelines and manage broker relationships.
