Job summary

Turner Construction Company in Cleveland, OH is seeking an experienced Estimator specialized in Self-Perform Operations (SPO) drywall. You will prepare detailed takeoffs, develop labor rates, and assemble bids for various contract types while coordinating with Preconstruction and project teams on design issues and schedule risks.

The role requires 3+ years of estimating experience in drywall and related scopes, a related degree is a plus, and proficiency with estimating software and MS Office.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of related experience performing detailed estimates for specialty scopes (drywall, framing, ceilings, doors, hardware)
• Ability to read, understand, interpret contract documents, drawings, specs, scopes of work and project schedules
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and estimating software; able to develop labor rates and markups
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Construction or related field is a plus, or equivalent experience

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed SPO drywall estimates from drawings and specs, including takeoffs, analyses, and bid inputs
• Develop labor productivity rates using historical data and project constraints
• Maintain vendor relationships to solicit competitive pricing
• Prepare drywall bids and proposals for Lump Sum, GMP, and Cost Plus contracts
• Identify design issues and project risks and propose solutions with Preconstruction team
• Analyze schedules for sequencing risk and prepare labor-loaded schedules
• Lead document management for SPO drywall projects and distribute to stakeholders
• Attend constructability reviews and document potential issues with trades and design teams
• Develop SPO drywall value analysis studies for cost-efficient scope options
• Coordinate with project team to ensure complete scope and avoid gaps
• For subcontracted drywall work, manage proposals, bid records, and post-bid reviews
• Support procurement with bid awards decisions and kickoff meetings
• May supervise estimating staff and contribute to performance appraisals
