Turner Construction Company is seeking an experienced estimator to prepare detailed Self-Perform Operations (SPO) drywall estimates from drawings and specs, communicating bids and scopes of work. You will generate labor rates, manage vendor relationships, and assemble bids for multiple contract types across Cleveland projects.

The role requires a minimum of 3 years in drywall estimating, strong reading of plans, and proficiency with takeoff/estimating software, MS Office, and construction

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of detailed estimates experience for specialty scopes such as framing, drywall, acoustical ceilings, and doors/frames/hardware.
• Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Knowledge of building construction, materials, systems, market conditions, and trade practices.
• Ability to read, understand and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work and project schedule.
• Knowledge of estimating documents and ability to provide quantitative and qualitative analysis.
• Conceptual ability to work with minimal information and quickly understand requirements.
• Proficient in project management, able to prioritize competing demands and meet deadlines.
• Familiar with construction procedures and collaboration with Procurement/Operations.
• Professional verbal and written communication skills; able to present to non-technical audiences.
• Proficient computer skills, MS Office, and computer-based takeoff/estimating software.
• Limited travel requirements.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed SPO drywall estimates including quantity take-offs, analysis, input, and studies for items within assigned scope.
• Generate labor productivity rates using historical data and project constraints.
• Develop and maintain vendor relationships to solicit competitive pricing.
• Prepare and assemble drywall bids and proposals for Lump Sum, GMP, and Cost Plus contracts.
• Identify design issues and project risks; propose solutions with Preconstruction team.
• Analyze SPO drywall schedules for sequencing risk and create labor-loaded schedules.
• Coordinate with SPO Manager to include appropriate markups, labor rates, and other data.
• Lead document management for SPO drywall projects and distribute to stakeholders.
• Attend constructability reviews and document potential issues with Trades market; support communication with project team and designers.
• Develop SPO drywall value analyses including cost-efficient alternatives.
• Understand contract docs, site logistics, schedule, coordination, means and methods for scope.
• Prepare drywall scope requisitions and coordinate with project team to close gaps.
• Prepare comparison analysis to previous estimates for assigned scope.
• For subcontracted drywall work, obtain/evaluate trade proposals and organize in Bid Recording Sheet; participate in Post Bid Review.
• Manage Post Bid action items, finalize sub tier scopes, and advise Procurement on bid awards.
• Prepare and manage project kickoff and handoffs to operations teams.
• May supervise estimating team members, participate in recruiting, onboard new staff, and aid performance appraisals.
• Other duties as assigned.
