Job summary

Turner Construction Company is seeking an experienced estimator to prepare detailed Self-Perform Operations (SPO) drywall estimates from plans and specifications. You will handle quantity take-offs, labor productivity, and bid preparation for different contract types including Lump Sum, GMP, and Cost Plus.

You will develop vendor relationships and coordinate with the Preconstruction team to resolve design issues and risks.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in detailed estimates for drywall, framing, ceilings, and related trades.
• Bachelor or equivalent in engineering/architecture/construction management or related field.
• Knowledge of building construction, materials, and trade practices.
• Ability to read and interpret contract documents, drawings, specs, and schedules.
• Experience with takeoffs and estimating documents; ability to quantify and analyze data.
• Ability to work with limited information and quickly understand requirements.
• Strong project management skills; able to prioritize and meet deadlines.
• Familiarity with procurement and operations interactions.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient with estimating software and computer tools.
• Limited travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed Self-Perform Operations (SPO) drywall estimates from drawings and specs.
• Generate labor productivity rates using historical data and project constraints.
• Develop and maintain vendor relations for competitive pricing.
• Prepare drywall bids and proposals for Lump Sum, GMP, and Cost Plus contracts.
• Identify design issues and project risks; propose solutions with Preconstruction team.
• Analyze SPO drywall schedules for sequencing risk and labor loading.
• Collaborate with SPO Manager on markups and labor rates for estimates.
• Lead document management for SPO drywall projects and distribute to stakeholders.
• Attend constructability reviews and document issues with trades and designers.
• Develop SPO drywall value analysis and cost-efficient alternatives.
• Ensure scope coverage from contract docs, site logistics, and means/ methods.
• Prepare scope requisitions and coordinate to close overlaps.
• Compare current estimates with previous ones and document differences.
• Evaluate subcontractor bids and participate in post-bid reviews.
• Manage post-bid actions and procurement recommendations.
• Prepare and run project kickoff meetings and handoffs.
• May supervise estimating staff and participate in recruiting and appraisals.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
