Job summary

Turner Construction Company is seeking an experienced estimator for the Self-Perform Operations (SPO) drywall scope. You will prepare detailed estimates from drawings and specs, develop labor rates, and assemble bids for multiple contract types.

You will manage vendor relations, analyze schedules, and coordinate with Preconstruction to resolve design issues. The role involves leading document control, participating in constructability reviews, and supporting project kickoffs.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of related experience performing detailed estimates for specialty scopes of work such as framing, drywall, acoustic ceilings, specialty ceilings, delegated design cold formed metal framing, and doors, frames, and hardware.
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Building Construction, or related field a plus, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Knowledge of building construction, materials, systems, market conditions, and Trade practices.
• Ability to read, understand and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work and project schedule.
• Knowledge of estimating documents and ability to provide accurate qualitative and quantitative analysis of documents.
• Proficient computer skills and Microsoft Office suite, familiar with computer-based takeoff and estimating software.
• Limited travel

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed Self-Perform Operations (SPO) drywall estimates for project based on construction drawings and specifications; and communicate bids and scopes of work.
• Generate labor productivity rates in coordination with historical data and project specific constraints.
• Develop and maintain vendor relationships to solicit competitive pricing.
• Prepare and assemble drywall bids and proposals for different contract types (e.g., Lump Sum, GMP, Cost Plus).
• Identify design issues and project risks impacting SPO drywall, proposing solutions with Preconstruction team.
• Analyze SPO drywall project schedules for sequencing risk and prepare labor loaded schedules.
• Collaborate with SPO Manager to include markups, labor rates, and other information in estimates.
• Lead document management for SPO drywall projects and distribute drawings to stakeholders.
• Attend constructability reviews and document potential issues with Trades market.
• Develop SPO drywall value analysis studies and cost-efficient alternatives.
• Gain full comprehension of factors for Trade package scope including contracts, site logistics, schedule, coordination, means and methods.
• Prepare drywall scope requisitions and coordinate with project team to eliminate scope gaps.
• Prepare comparison analysis to previous estimate for assigned scope.
• Obtain and evaluate Trade proposals for subcontracted drywall work and participate in Post Bid Review.
• Manage action items from Post Bid, finalize sub tier scopes, and make procurement recommendations.
• Prepare and manage project kickoff and hand off to operations teams.
• May supervise Estimating team members and contribute to performance appraisals.
