Job summary

Turner Construction Company in Cleveland, OH is seeking an experienced Estimator to prepare detailed Self-Perform Operations drywall estimates from drawings and specs and communicate bids and scopes of work. You will assemble bids for Lump Sum, GMP, and Cost Plus contracts, develop labor rates, and manage document control for SPO drywall projects.

Applicants should have at least 3 years of experience in specialty drywall estimation, a related degree or equivalent, strong reading of contract

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of related experience performing detailed estimates for specialty scopes such as framing, drywall, acoustic ceilings, and doors, frames, and hardware.
• Bachelor's Degree from accredited program in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Building Construction, or related field or equivalent experience
• Knowledge of building construction, materials, systems, market conditions, and trade practices
• Ability to read, understand and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work and project schedule
• Proficient in MS Office and estimating software; limited travel

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed Self-Perform Operations (SPO) drywall estimate including take-offs, analysis, and input for assigned scope
• Generate labor productivity rates using historical data and project constraints
• Develop and maintain vendor relationships for competitive pricing
• Prepare and assemble drywall bids and proposals for Lump Sum, GMP, and Cost Plus contracts
• Identify design issues and project risks and propose solutions with Preconstruction team
• Analyze SPO drywall schedules for sequencing risk and prepare labor-loaded schedules
• Lead document management for SPO drywall projects and distribute drawings/specs to stakeholders
• Attend constructability reviews and communicate issues to project team and designers
• Develop SPO drywall value analysis studies for cost-efficient alternatives
• Gain full comprehension of factors for trade package scope including contracts, site logistics, and means/methods
• Prepare scope requisitions for assigned trades and coordinate to eliminate gaps
• Prepare comparison analysis to previous estimates; evaluate trade proposals and participate in post-bid reviews
• Manage post-bid actions, finalize sub-tier scopes, and advise Procurement on bid awards
• Prepare and manage project kick-off meetings
• May supervise estimating staff and contribute to performance appraisals
• Other duties as assigned
