Job summary

Estes Express Lines is seeking a qualified operations supervisor to lead dock staff and oversee a high‑volume LTL facility. You will set targets, monitor performance, coach employees, and ensure efficient, compliant operations with strong focus on safety and customer communication.

You will manage schedules, equipment movement, and paperwork while driving KPI results and cost efficiency. Flexibility for shifts and overtime is essential in this role.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; bachelor degree preferred.
• Thorough understanding of the LTL trucking industry and basic paperwork flow.
• Prior management, dispatch and dock experience required, preferably in LTL trucking.
• Knowledge of local metropolitan area.
• Strong leadership skills including hiring, coaching, counseling, training, mentoring and terminating.
• Team building and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent verbal, written and listening communication skills.
• Excellent planning and organization skills.
• Good computer skills (AS/400 & MS Office a plus).
• Strong work ethic and good problem solving skills.
• Willing to work 50 hours/week on average; able to work any shift including nights/weekends and in various weather.
• Pass pre-employment drug screen, random drug/alcohol tests, and background check; authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Report to Operations Manager/Assistant Service Center Manager and/or Service Center Manager.
• Lead dock employees; set targets, monitor performance and provide coaching/development.
• Manage efficient, safe LTL operation including dock planning and schedules.
• Enforce company policies, safety rules and gov't regulations.
• Participate in hiring and termination processes.
• Administer portions of the Service Center Business plan.
• Meet all KPI’s; daily use of enhancement tools and processes.
• Review/revise schedules to increase efficiency and reduce cost.
• Oversee equipment assignment/movement (trailers/tractors) with other supervisors.
• Maintain timely, accurate paperwork for dock operations.
• Communicate with customers via phone, fax or email.
• Regular attendance required; perform other duties as assigned.
