Job summary

Roadrunner is seeking an Operations Supervisor to lead daily dock, freight, and terminal activities in Indianapolis, onsite. You will translate network strategy into execution, balancing throughput, cost, service quality, and compliance in a fast-paced LTL environment.

You will coach frontline teams, manage safety, and coordinate across linehaul and local delivery functions to protect shipment integrity and drive terminal profitability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or 1–2 years of operations/logistics experience.
• Experience in transportation, LTL, warehouse, or service center operations preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise, train, and evaluate team members.
• Strong knowledge of safety protocols, compliance standards, and hazmat handling (Hazmat preferred).
• Forklift certification (or ability to obtain).
• Analytical and mathematical skills to interpret operational and financial data.
• Proficient in PC applications (email, spreadsheets, databases).

Responsibilities

• Execute dock and terminal operations with precision.
• Oversee daily dock operations including load planning, freight handling, and linehaul coordination.
• Maintain high standards for load quality, minimize damages, OS&D incidents, and rehandling.
• Step into operational roles including forklift operations when needed.
• Monitor daily operating costs and identify efficiency opportunities.
• Support budget attainment through effective labor utilization and workflow management.
• Ensure billing, rating, payroll, and admin processes are accurate and timely.
• Maintain a safe and compliant work environment aligned with DOT/OSHA standards.
• Support contractor compliance and freight security protocols.
• Supervise, coach, and direct service center personnel with accountability.
• Provide real-time feedback and development support.
• Coordinate with linehaul contractors, drivers, and internal teams for seamless freight movement.
• Communicate effectively with corporate teams, customers, and external partners.
• Resolve operational issues quickly with sound judgment in dynamic conditions.
