Job summary

Roadrunner Transportation Systems Inc is seeking an Operations Supervisor in Chicago to lead dock, freight, and terminal activities with precision, safety, and financial discipline. You will translate network strategy into execution, manage budgets, supervise frontline teams, ensure compliance with DOT and HazMat standards, and collaborate with linehaul contractors to keep shipments moving.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or 1–2 years of relevant operations or logistics experience.
• Experience in transportation, LTL, warehouse, or service center operations preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise, train, and evaluate team members.
• Strong safety, compliance, and HazMat handling knowledge; forklift cert preferred.
• Analytical and mathematical skills to interpret operational and financial data.
• Proficiency in PC applications; AS/400 experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily dock operations including load planning, freight handling, and linehaul coordination.
• Monitor operating costs and identify efficiency and margin improvement opportunities; manage labor and workflow.
• Maintain safety and compliance with DOT, OSHA, and hazardous materials standards.
• Supervise and develop frontline service center personnel with clear expectations and accountability.
• Coordinate with linehaul contractors, drivers, and internal teams to ensure seamless freight movement.
