Job summary

Qualus seeks a Lead Distribution Engineer to provide technical leadership within the Distribution group. This role guides engineers and coordinates design activities across projects, ensuring compliance with standards and client requirements.

The position may sit in Raleigh, NC or other locations; travel up to 25% is expected. A BS in Engineering with 6+ years of distribution experience, strong communication skills, and staff mentorship are required.

Qualifications

• BS Engineering Degree and 6+ years of distribution engineering experience.
• Knowledge of NESC and other applicable codes and standards.
• Strong computer and communication skills.
• Willingness to learn and operate client provided programs and systems.
• Proven history of successfully attaining results in a production environment.
• Ability to travel up to 20-25% of the time to client sites (monthly).

Responsibilities

• Knowledge of electrical distribution system design engineering standards, practices, and regulatory requirements.
• Supports the Design Engineering Manager by handling some supervisory and management tasks for a subset of the team.
• Problem identification and resolution.
• Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and effectively manage workloads for assigned team members.
• Coordinate task assignments to maximize staff utilization.
• Review of completed designs and design products to ensure compliance with client, industry, and regulatory requirements.
• Review of design products to ensure compliance with quality and consistency expectations.
• Ability to apply client, industry and regulatory standards and requirements to existing distribution system components.
• Ability to effectively communicate with internal, client and regulatory counterparts.
• Ability to maintain production in a changing environment.
• Identify and promote training opportunities.
• Provides support to recruiting including interviews and attendance at college career fairs.
