Job summary

Qualus is seeking an Engineer II in its Distribution Department to provide technical leadership on electric utility distribution projects, including design and system improvements. You will develop packages using Distribution Design Studio, Pole Foreman, Design Manager and AutoCAD, while mentoring junior staff and ensuring QA/QC adherence.

The role focuses on meeting client standards, regulatory requirements, and delivering safe, reliable, and cost-effective solutions in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or related) from an ABET-accredited institution.
• 3-5 years of experience in electric utility distribution engineering and design.
• Experience designing and supporting overhead and underground distribution systems.
• Proficiency with utility design software including Pole Foreman, Design Manager/Electric Office, WMS, AutoCAD.
• Strong communication and client relationship management skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and engineering expertise for overhead and underground electrical distribution system projects.
• Apply client standards, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements to design and execution.
• Support project execution by managing assignments, monitoring performance, and maintaining client relationships.
• Develop and oversee engineering design packages using client-specific software and tools, including Distribution Design Studio, Pole Foreman, Design Manager, WMS, and AutoCAD.
• Perform QA/QC reviews of engineering deliverables to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and designers through training and design reviews.
• Communicate effectively with internal teams, clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies to support project delivery.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes and design standards.
