Job summary

Confluent is seeking a Senior Engineer for the WarpStream team, a remote-capable role within its Engineering department. You will help build a Kafka-compatible data streaming platform on object storage, delivering features like transactions and multi-region clusters while improving the developer console UI.

You will work across the stack, from network-level components to the user interface, collaborating with a geographically distributed team in span of Europe, Canada, Ireland and the USA.

Qualifications

• 5+ years industry experience designing, building, scaling and supporting backend systems in production with emphasis on quality, reviews and documentation.
• Proficiency in major programming languages (e.g., Java, Go, C/C++, Python).
• Deep curiosity for distributed and storage systems.
• Strong focus on project delivery and clear communication.
• Experience driving operational excellence for large production services.
• Leadership, teamwork and mentorship oriented toward team and company success.

Responsibilities

• Independently drive execution of complex technical projects end to end.
• Build backend services that are high performance, scalable and reliable; architect, design and operationalize them.
• Troubleshoot issues in a deep stack including microservices, containers and virtualization.
• Ensure service readiness and meet availability and performance SLAs for customers.
