Job summary

Confluent is seeking a Senior Engineer for the WarpStream team, a remote, distributed group focused on a Kafka-compatible data streaming platform built on object storage. You will work across the stack, from storage engines to the developer console, solving complex distributed systems problems at scale.

You'll build services across AWS, GCP, and Azure, contribute to high-availability backend systems, and participate in on-call rotations.

Qualifications

• 5+ years experience designing, building, scaling and supporting backend systems in production.
• Strong programming and algorithmic skills in major languages (e.g. Java, Go, C/C++, Python).
• Deep curiosity for distributed and storage systems.
• Delivery-focused with strong communication and collaboration.
• Experience driving operational excellence for large production services.
• Customer-centric mindset and technical leadership.

Responsibilities

• Independently drive execution of complex technical projects end to end.
• Build mission-critical backend services delivering value to customers and ensuring high performance, scalability, reliability and resilience.
• Troubleshoot and debug within a deep stack of microservices, containers, and virtualization.
• Ensure operational readiness and meet availability and performance SLAs for customers.
