Job summary

Confluent is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to shape WarpStream, a Kafka-compatible data streaming platform built on object storage. You will tackle storage engines, scale multi-tenant control planes, and implement features like transactions and multi-region clusters.

The role spans the stack from network to UI, in a fully remote, globally distributed team. Preferred candidates have 5+ years building production backend systems, strong programming skills, and a passion for distributed storage

Qualifications

• 5+ years industry experience designing, building, scaling and supporting backend systems in production.
• Proficiency in a major programming language such as Java, Go, C/C++, Python.
• Deep curiosity for distributed and storage systems.
• Strong delivery focus and communication skills.
• Experience driving operational excellence for large production services.
• Strong customer-centric mindset and collaborative leadership.

Responsibilities

• Independently drive execution of complex technical projects end to end.
• Build backend services that are high performance, scalable, reliable and resilient.
• Troubleshoot and debug within a deep tech stack including microservices, containers, and virtualization.
• Ensure service operational readiness and meet availability and performance SLAs.
