Job summary

Blue Shield of California seeks a Sr. Director, Technology, Infrastructure & Stabilization to drive the corporate technology strategy, engineering, and operations.

You will oversee production systems, platform reliability, and cross‑functional delivery with a focus on speed, quality, security, and operational excellence. You will partner with Product, Architecture, Security, and business leaders to modernize systems, stabilize legacy environments, and deliver measurable business outcomes through

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent with 4 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
• 12 years of software engineering, technology operations, or related tech roles.
• 6 years of people management experience overseeing engineering managers and senior tech leaders.
• Proven track record delivering production systems end‑to‑end and improving reliability.
• Experience stabilizing and modernizing legacy systems in high‑pressure environments.
• Strong understanding of cloud‑native architectures, CI/CD, observability, and secure development.
• Ability to lead cross‑functional execution with Product, Architecture, Security, and business leaders.
• Experience with portfolio planning and resource tradeoffs.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior leadership across engineering delivery, platform operations, and technology services.
• Lead engineering managers and senior tech leaders to ensure fast, high‑quality delivery.
• Partner with Product, Architecture, Security, and business leaders to improve execution and reliability.
• Guide architecture, delivery, production stability, and issue resolution at scale.
