Job summary

Blue Shield of California seeks a senior technology leader to oversee information systems strategy, engineering delivery, and platform operations. You will guide engineering managers and senior technologists to deliver scalable, reliable technology services aligned with business objectives.

This role emphasizes modernization, risk management, and cross‑functional collaboration with Product, Security, and Architecture teams to drive measurable business outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher; 4 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
• 12 years of software engineering/technology operations or related experience.
• 6 years of people management experience, including supervision of engineering managers and senior tech leaders.
• Experience leading multiple engineering teams and accountability for delivery and operational outcomes.
• Proven track record of owning production systems end‑to‑end and improving reliability.
• Experience stabilizing and modernizing legacy systems in production environments.
• Strong understanding of cloud-native architectures, system design, CI/CD, observability, and secure development.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior leadership across engineering delivery, platform operations, and technology services.
• Lead engineering managers and technology leaders responsible for solution delivery and platform reliability.
• Drive modernization and operational maturity, focusing on speed, quality, security, and reliability.
• Partner with Product, Architecture, Security, and business leaders to improve execution and risk management.
• Develop leaders at all levels and foster growth, learning, and high‑performing teams.
